DLIDLib is a flexible, cost effective software library for parsing state and government ID cards. Compatible with the PDF-417 2D bar code or magnetic stripes used most in US and Canadian driver's licenses and state ID cards, as well as U.S. military IDs and travel documents such as most passports and visas.

Hardware Compatibility

ID Scanner is a software library and is not not tied to any particular hardware device that can read magnetic stripe or bar code data. And can work with desktop systems and most mobile devices.

Supported States and Jurisdictions

DLIDLib supports any jurisdictional format that adheres closely to the published AAMVA specification and takes into account many of the common implementation differences.

ID Scanner is known to work in:

  • 48 U.S. State ID and Licenses* (List)
  • 9 Canadian Providences (List)
  • 2 Mexican States (List)

* Illinois IDs are partially encrypted, basic data such as name, DOB, expiration and License # are available.

Why DLIDLib

  • Distinct Value Fields - Unlike other ID parsing systems, ID Scanner's interface model contains distinct fields that minimize misidentification. For example, fields for “First Name” and “Last Name” are kept separate. This can reduce data duplication, mismatches and incorrect data entry.
