Continuing a tradition of supporting groups that advance technology education, Nutmeg Consulting is proud to lend its support to the Philadelphia based Maker Space, The Hacktory. We recently made a donation of a check and a new Jigsaw for the woodshop to support this fantastic organization as it settles into its brand new location.
If you have never heard of the term before, The Hacktory provides what is known as a “Maker Space”. What is a “Maker Space” you ask? It’s a recently coined term used to describe a space filled with various tools such as 3D Printers, Laser cutters and metal and woodworking tools. Most importantly it’s filled with talented people who know how to use them and want to share that knowledge! People can sign up for a class or become a member and learn a variety of skills such as programming, woodworking, electronics, sewing and 3D Design and Printing taught by people who have a passion for what they do and want to share that passion with others.
They offer classes to both children and adults at affordable prices and work closely with schools and community organizations to empower everyone to try and learn new skills, create Art and solve problems. As those of you who know us, this is something near and dear to all of Nutmeg’s staff.
We look forward to seeing how our small contribution helps the next generation solve problems, make cool things and have fun doing it. Who knows, they might open their own Maker Space in a few years’ time!
